The Foot

This sculpture is at Marine Park at the 10th St. boat Launch in Everett Wa. I like to come here and watch the people and pleasure/fishing boats. I have always called this sculpture 'The Foot' or even just 'toes'. It has always amused me---don't ask why. It is call Surf 11 and is by Stan Wanlass and I cannot find anything about it. Maybe someone else can.

Isn't it odd that even though I took these pictures today all at near the same time and the sky is so different at different angles. MB

It is amazing how many moods you capture here. That third one is pretty jaw-dropping.

LOL It does look like a big foot. I like the contrast in the third photo the best. Peace

The sculpture looks as different as the sky from all those different perspectives. A foot, hmmmm....

I think it resembles a whale's tail ... particularly in the 1st and 3rd image. Not reminded of feet. Cool sculpture, in any case!

It could be a foot or a cheese grater.

They are all great shots, but that third one is my favorite! I like the way the light is hitting the water.

I know the sculptor well. He used to live and teach in Astoria before moving to Utah. Nice guy renowned sculptor but trtuhfully I never cared for his work.

MB, these pix are outstanding. You made great use of the light in every case, even though the results were so different. If you hadn't told me, I'd never know it was the same! They are spectacular, and some of your best.

About Lee and his trip, I will definitely keep his friends posted if he can't post for some reason. And I'm as anxious to follow the blog posts as anyone :)

Most interesting! I am always glad to see cities sponsor art displays -- okay!

I agree with Chuck in that this looks like a whale's tale to me at first glance. But looking at it more I can see the foot, too.

So sorry to read about that terrible accident. I preach to my community college students all the time about such things...

Thanks for sharing this. If you don't mind, I will put this up on the big screen next week when classes start up again. You can never remind young people enough...

Take care.

Not only the sky changes from different perspectives, but the sculpture too!

One of those crazy, creative types probably knows exactly what the 'foot' symbolizes... Whatever it is, it is very pretty... I like your description of a 'foot' myself. Beautiful area to visit for sure and you captured several get angles and photos.

Hugs,
Betsy

Nice work and interesting effect. Not only the sky looks different: at first I thought that there were more than one sculpture...

The colour of the sky changes and so does the shape of the sculpture! You could ave told me they are all different sculptures and I would have believed you.

Great angles! It doesn't seem to be the same sculpture in all the pics.
