 Elvis Memorial Church at the Superstition Mountain Museum at Apacheland Movie Ranch.  Elvis filmed the movie 'Charro' here in 1969 and he never left.  And here he is!!!

Home again, home again

We took a trip to Arizona to see Bob's daughter, Marianne.  She lives in Chandler near Phoenix.  I had never been in a jet airplane so we flew down.  Don't ask if our arms are tired...................

 I love  wildflowers and the season for them is just starting in the Desert. These are Arizona Poppies similar to California Poppies.

This is a barn at the Superstition Mountain Museum.  Still being used for horses with the Elvis Memorial Church nearby.  More about that later!

My Grandfather

 This is my Grampa Joe.  I pictured him on my blog a few weeks ago with the horses and the Seattle Fire Department.  He was my Mother's Father.  This is his wedding picture.  I posted my grandma's wedding pic also a few weeks ago.

This is my Mother age 16.  She recently passed away at age 95

 This is my barn.  I have shown a picture from the long left side where you can see stall doors but this is the front side with two large doors.

Lind, Washington

Lind is a small wheat town near Ritzville.  Off the beaten track on highway 21.
Lind was settled on 1888 along the Northern Pacific Railway.  Between 1898 and 1903Lind grew to a population of over 600 and today that figure stands around 564.  The Milwaukee Road would later lay tracks through the south side of town which is now the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

 Lind is famous for it's Combine Derby which has been highlighted in Playboy Magazine, 2 movies on the Discovery channel and numerous other places.

Lind is surrounded by fields of wheat. About half are owned by Russian-German Mennonite and Hutterites farmers.  

Mr. Killdeer admiring himself.  Doesn't it look like he has a bow tie on.  Killdeer  are residents here but we see them mostly in the Spring.
