More beautiful fall color

Just had to add Mt. Baker

We have been having a beautiful Fall or Indian Summer. October is usually gray and wet with the occasional sunshine. It has been exceptional this year making colors pop out everywhere.

5. Yesterday morning--so far every morning has had a beautiful sunrise.

Monday morning coming down

Yesterday sunrise at my favorite spot. The skies have been gorgeous lately. The first pic is blurry for some reason but I kinda like it that way.

Fall Leaves

The front of my house is covered with these Japanese Maple leaves and Bright yellow Sycamore leaves and tiny Birch leaves. My work is cut out for me. Rake, rake, rake!! Very pretty.

The view from Deception Pass

Deception Pass is a strait separating Whidbey Island from Fidalgo Island, in the northwest part of the U.S. state of Washington. It connects Skagit Bay, part of Puget Sound, with the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Deception Pass is unique in that the tidal flow beneath the twin bridges connecting Fidalgo Island to Whidbey Island is extremely fast and rough. During lower tides, the swift current can lead to standing waves, huge whirlpools, and roiling eddies. This swift current phenomenon can be viewed from the twin bridges' pedestrian walkways or from the trail leading below the larger south bridge from the parking lot on the Whidbey Island side.

Abraham Lincoln comes home

The carrier Abraham Lincoln returned to Naval Station everett on October 13th. Everett is about 40 miles south of my house. I took these pictures today. I couldn't get too close so the pics are soso. Two pictures are newspaper file photos.

After a seven-month deployment, the USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group has come home.

The USS Lincoln, USS Momsen and USS Shoup were greeted by a record crowd of an estimated 5,000 family and friends waiting at Naval Station Everett to welcome the sailors home.

The strike group spent the majority of their deployment in the Persian Gulf supporting military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Hawthorn Berries

The birds are going to love these. They are so pretty.
Do anyone know what this second tree is. The leaves are long and skinny and the pods are spiny and sharp like a cactus. The pods look like a horse chestnut except for the spines. Take a guess!!

The tree and pods are Chestnut (Castanea mollissima) a horse chestnut is a different tree altogether Aesculus hippocastanum.

Yesterdays School bus

I take Kylee down the hill to the school bus stop---There she goes. It is so dark up here and it is 6:30 in the morning. I don't think kids brains are awake yet.
