Playing around

 Too much time on my hands as you can see.  So I played around with some pictures I took.  It was sorta fun.

This first one is a rainbow looking out over our pasture and some newly opened Crocus

We had a big snowstorm mid February and I magically tweaked these shots.

Looking for Spring

 Now I know that Spring is a Month away but I am tired of the cold, smow, wind and rain.  So happy thoughts make for a happy mind and pictures help a whole lot.

My Crocus are starting to bloom---these were last years and when the sun was shining.

Don't those flowers just make you smile.              I love hiking in the Mountains, another reason to keep thinking about Spring, Summer and warmer weather.  Fun times on Mt. Baker

SKY

 Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny and almost warm day.  The sun made it seem so much warmer----well it makes one feel so much better.   We packed a lunch and headed for water.  

This is what it looked like as we started out.   Bright sun and snow still in the fields

Rosario Strait and the San Juan Islands out there

The ferry leaves from Anacortes to make stops at all the Islands.  Pleasure boats and fishing boats make an appearance here

My World

 My Hellebores are blooming----5 white ones and 2 Pink ones

 Well we had snow but it will be mostly gone by Tuesday---which is soon

Before the snow we had some visitors----The Anna's Hummingbird winters over here and so we had a visit from a female.

That is Stanwood in the distance.  This is the road down my hill to head that way.

SNOW!

 We seldom get snow out this way.  Rain? Yes.  but not snow.  and if it does snow it usually is gone by the next morning.  But we had Snow!!  Friday-Saturday and today being Sunday.  It is starting to warm up and some has melted but it is sticking around for another day or so.

Our dog, Jacky, is a rescue from Kauai, Hawaii.  He is called a Kauai Hound.  We got Jacky 2 yrs ago in February---He is 3 now or will be in a couple weeks.  He is not a big fan of snow but if there is a path he will do zoomies and then back by the wood stove.

Edison is a relatively small town  in the Skagit valley along the Samish River.

First settled in 1869 by Ben Samson, it was later named for inventor Thomas Edison

In 1897 Edison became the headquarters of a national utopian society project known as Equality colony, backed by an organization known as the Brotherhood of the Cooperative Commonwealth.  The socialist colony was established on 280 acres just outside Edison and it engaged in farming and timber milling and included a school as well as blacksmith and copper-working shops. The Edison-based Brotherhood also published a newspaper called Industrial Freedom for national circulation to its approximately 3,000 supporters.  The socialist community folded shortly after 1903, by which time only about 100 colony remembers remained.

The town has survived and there are several stores and restaurants.
