Yep, he caught one------Sky Watch too.

THE fish!!!

The Pacific Staghorn Sculpin (Leptocottus armatus) is a common sculpin found in shallow coastal waters along the Pacific coast from Alaska to Baja California. The Pacific Staghorn Sculpin has spined horns shaped much like deer antlers on its gill covers, the antlers/horns can be moved slightly for defensive measures.

After much discussion The fish was released---to be caught again another day.

Lots of blue sky out there so I will use this shot for Sky Watch.

beachtime.............

The boys and I decided to go to the beach off Camano Island and see what fun we could have. Icy cold water of course. So after playing and watching the fishing boats come and go Bradley decided he wanted to go fishing---like a native. so he found a likely looking pole and I had some string but no safety pin so he asked some guy if he had an extra hook. He got a hook and a small sinker We put it all together and off he went. Both boys tried it--off the boat launch and in the water.
So tomorrow (today) we are going to bring the poles(real ones) and try again. If we catch a legal fish I will post it. LOL MB

I wished them a Happy Life and they smiled. MB

The pinks are in............................

Pink Salmon also know as 'humpies' are coming into the Sound and the rivers to head back home to spawn. Pinks are the most abundant of the NW salmon. Here are local fishermen/women in the Snohomish, see the boat launch on the upper right in the second picture, river hoping to catch a nice fish and some commercial boats in Puget Sound. As a matter of choice some will only catch the returning salmon in salt water saying that when they hit the rivers let them go and do as nature intended.

Football Jamboree

Saturday was the 'Snohomish County Youth Football Jamboree', held at Harvey Airfield in Snohomish. teams from 5-6yr. olds thru middle school were there. It went all day long. My G-son (age 9) is #22. I think everyone had a great time. Brad's team won their first game, they played two more but I had to leave so don't know the results yet. His first 'real' game is next Saturday. He plays center. Are ya sure coach? He's my baby. Awwww!!

Fun at Double Bluff

We all went to whidbey Island and to one of the best beaches there---Double Bluff. There used to be be a bluff with a ravine and then another bluff--hench the name. supposedly the second bluff fell into the water in the 1920s or so I am told.
But it is a fun beach that goes out miles or so it seems. When the tide comes in it comes in fast. the boys were trying to make their own island and trying to hold back the tide. An impossible job but they had fun trying and slept well that night.

Roadtripping-from Yakima Valley to Naches to White Pass Hiway

Driving from Western Washington to eastern Washington in search of peaches at a farm in Naches we take side trips and end up out of Naches on the way to White Pass. Spectacular scenery on a bright sunny day.

Fiurst shot is driving down the Yakima Canyon Rd---watching the floaters on the Yakima River to heading up into the hills---actually heading to McDaniels Lake and finding excellent Blue Elderberries (Sambucus mexicana-native to California up the coast to British Columbia) yummy!.

Waiting for the loo.......

I did go on a roadtrip to Eastern Washington. I was looking for peaches and wanted to see if the kind I wanted were ripe yet. Some are ripe but the ones I wanted are a few weeks out. I get them right from the farm where they are grown. Very yummy. But that is not what my post is about. Always the second stop (the first being at the Mt. pass) is the rest stop called Indian John's. Well there was a convoy of soldiers and they ALL were waiting in line to use the restroom. I thought it was comical. The line wrapped all around the building. So much for my sense of humor.

Wait!!! There's more.

TAKEN THE SAME DAY-----I LAUGHED SO HARD.

Pond time!!!

The pond is so low now because it has been so hot and dry. Where-ever you see brown mud is where the water should be. The water is so muddy because the creek is almost dried up so no water is running into the pond.Lotsa frogs too. The dogs love playing in the pond and today while I was at the pond trimming the willow tree even the goats came to play.

Hey I found something!

I got it!!

Even the goat, Stanley and Snowflake want to play.
