Winter Greens

Well I don't have too much Christmasy green stuff--except the grass which is always green--- around yet but here are a few I can find.

Snow Geese winter here in Skagit and Stillaguamish Valley.  They mostly come from Wrangle Island, Siberia

A protective Fence

Here is a good fence holding us all back from falling in Diable Lake.  Whew!  Thank goodness.

Outdoor Wednesday

Not too inviting outdoors today.  Very gray, not raining now but has been and it is chilly with a slight breeze. NOT NICE AT ALL!
I did go out and throw the chickens some scratch wandered around with the dog and decided it's time to go back in the house and get WARM.

Admiralty Head Lighthouse

Located at Fort Casey State Park in the Coupeville area of Whidbey Island, Admiralty Head Lighthouse stands guard over Admiralty Inlet,
First built in 1890, then rebuilt in 1903, Admiralty Head was the last brick lighthouse designed by renowned German architect Carl Leick. During its later occupancy by the Army, the lighthouse was used as a training facility for the K-9 dog program. Although deactivated in 1922 and its lantern house moved to the New Dungeness Lighthouse in 1927, it has since been restored by the Washington State Parks. The lighthouse is kept open through a partnership between Washington State Parks and the Lighthouse Environmental Program (LEP).

Little Hummer

I know Hummingbirds sometimes hang around all year but I have never seen one after September.  But a few weeks ago I saw one and maybe another flitting about so I filled the feeder and now 2 females come around about every other day.  I am amazed!

 Farmers are going from field to field preparing the land for winter.  I cannot find my 'Share the Road' sign---but share we do.

Historic Wilson Hotel~~Anacortes, Wa

The Historic Wilson Hotel in Anacortes, Wa is on the National registry of Historic Places.  It was built in 1890 and renovated many times.  The last in 2007.

 These pictures were taken at the 4th of July Parade

 Lisa Liedgren designed a mural for the renovated Historic Wilson Hotel in Anacortes, Washington, in 2006. The piece was unanimously selected by the jurors of the Anacortes Arts Commission and funded by Beacon Development as part of the hotel’s redevelopment project. More than two stories tall, the mural features a portrait of Annie Curtis Bowman, the town’s namesake, translated into dots of reflective copper-colored paint.
