Killer sunset

I went into Stanwood in the evening to go to the Library. Kylee was with me and we thought it looked like it might be a good photo op sunset. So we went down to Old Pacific Highway, parallel with farmland and Skagit Bay. It was a beautiful sundown, which I will save for Friday Sky Watch but a teaser today.
The sunset reflected on the clouds and of course the sky but also on the side of this heifer barn and the old gate too. I thought it was kind of neat to see.

A silver lining

On Monday morning I took my friend down to Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle to have some tests and procedures done. I stayed in Seattle in a hotel and waited out the hospital stay.

The good news is that everything is positive and benign.

Coulee cavorting

Sunday I took a roadtrip to Eastern Washington with a friend to find rocks for said friends garden. We went to see the Spring wildflowers too.
but first to get from Western Wa. to the eastern side one has to cross over the mountain pass--which still has snow. the wet side of the state to the dry side. the Coulees are awesome and you have to be there to see the grandeur.

I will be off the air for a few days--probably until Wednesday or tuesday night--we will see. MB

A day in the country

I had some errands to run today so I cut across the valley and took some pictures of some country happenings.
It wasn't raining, temps were ok, in the mid 50's but the wind was blowing and it did seem colder.


What do you do when it is windy? Fly a kite of course!

the Gulls follow the tractor looking for goodies for lunch.

The potatoes are in the ground. doesn't that look pretty?

With the Cucumber processers and then the Pea processing plant pulling out the past years the farmers have been hard hit. Some are letting the fields go fallow this year and some are planting grass for silage for the dairys.

A good day to be out on the tractor.


Kind of a windy cloudy, overcast day

Some things I saw at my home today.......

Not much going on around here--just pouring rain all morning by by after 3:00 it quit and became rather nice. Still in the upper 50's but still nice out.
So I took some pictures and here are a few.

I was sitting at the dining room table doing--whatever and I happened to look up and my dog, Bingo, was just staring at me over the couch. Just staring. Why????

Tulip Petal Pictures and Street Fair

Here is a picture of the pics the high schoolers make with the tulip petals. They are on the lawn at the High School.

This past weekend was the Street Fair in Mount Vernon. All part of the Tulip festival. MB

Off with their heads

The time has come as I have probably explained before. The harvest of the crop is the bulb so the flowers have to come off so the bulb can mature. The foliage is left on to add nourishment to the bulb and they are dug up mid summer. The flowers are hand picked laid in rows and soon picked up and either thrown away or gathered by the high school kids to make oetal murals on the school lawns. MB

whoooo looking at who.............

My Daughter in Ritzville took these pictures. She saw the big owl in the trees a few days ago and (since she has a new camera) was able to get a good shot of the Owl. I think it is a Great Horned Owl. A few days later she saw the 3 babies in a nest in the rocks. Peekers!!! MB

Suspension Bridge

This is the suspension Bridge over the Yakima River at Umtanum recreational Area in the Yakima Canyon. A super neat place to go to hike or take pictures or just enjoy nature. A herd of Big Horn Sheep hang out up in the hills. This is in Eastern Wa. MB

Oh what a feeling.................................

This is my grandson Mike. His mother---yes, my daughter---sent me the pic. doesn't he look inspired. I just think it is a beautiful shot.
this pic was taken in Eastern Washington---isn't it way different than Western Washington. You know, the wet and green pictures I generally show you all. This is at Steptoe Butte State park in the Palouse Country. Very Beautiful.

Steptoe Butte State Park is a 150-acre, 3,612-foot-tall natural monument. Thimble-shaped, the quartzite butte looms in bald grandeur over the prevailing flat lands. The park is famous for its stark, dramatic beauty and the panoramic view it provides of surrounding farmlands, the Blue Mountains, and other neighboring ranges and peaks. From the top of the butte, the eye can see 200 miles.

Native Americans called the butte "the power mountain." It was believed that a journey to the butte bestowed a gift of power from the mountain's guardian spirit.

New Moon-------Sky Watch

Well I had another sky picture picked for Sky Watch--you know the kind--blue sky, fat puffy clouds--perfect. AND THEN; Tonight I went outside to enjoy the pitch blackness of the night when I saw hanging in the west---yes the west--this skinny sliver of the moon. This is the best picture I could get. I'll take it!!! MB
