A treasure

I didn't know what to post for today---my mind is getting rusty from all this rain and dark gray days.  So this is it.  Bob made the wine bottle holder from horse shoes.  Kinda cool
I suppose I could say this is a treasure so I will link it to Tuesday's Treasures~~~~~~HERE

Historic Barn

This farm was the first house and barn on Conway Hill with plumbing. Families in the community would be assigned a night to come and use the wood-heated bath tub. If the Johnson's were away, the house was left unlocked and families would still come for their ‘bath night’. Maynard Johnson, one of the first doctors in Mount Vernon, grew up on the farm. It was a full time chicken farm until 1949. A metal roof was added to the barn in 1995, and it has been straightened, reinforced and painted. Current owners are the fourth owners of the property and use the barn for storage
I took these pictures today.  The place is just down the road
I found this information on a website called "Historic Barns of Skagit County".  Very interesting

Crazy Sky

We have had a lot of wildish weather----Very January-ish.  Lotsa rain, some wind, a little clearing and even some blue sky inbetween the clouds.  This was just strange to me.

Young's Park

Not a really big park, but if you're looking for a real quiet place to hang out, this is the place. There is a little beach area, lawn area, and a short trail through the woods. One could even stay in their car if the weather is bad and watch the boats go by. There is a nice view of some the surrounding islands.  One might be able to see Mount Baker on the mainland. Even on a grayer day, it was still fun walking around and get the sense of quiet you get here. If you're looking for a quiet place and not want to do a longer hike on Guemes, Young's Park is a great place to escape to.
The only way to get to Guemes is by boat or the small ferry from Anacortes.  The N. beach is called agate beach and we found many nice stones

Winter Barns

Taking a note from Tom' Winter Barns~~~~~HERE    I will show some winter barns here only our winter is quite different than NY winters.

Bingo

We have been sorta house bound because of the weather---well we do go and take pictures of the Eagles but I have posted them so many times I thought I would do something different.  So while looking through my albums I came across this one of my Bingo boy when he was just a pup----he was so little and now he is too big to fit on the Gator's seat.
Do you see he has a gingerbread boy on his chest---LOL
Well he grew up and now is a senior dog with much gray especially on his face.

Working Outside

Bob put water and electricity to the green house and over to the chicken house too---so nice.  No more hauling water or extension cords from the house.  So today we laid down landscape cloth and then on the top gravel to make a path to the green house.
First picture the dirt covered ditch to the greenhouse---the path
Got a load of gravel so time for the first bucket full
Dump it and then spread it.  We both did the spreading part.  Good for the waistline--I hope
 Dump some more
Spread it all the way to the greenhouse
Job well done.  Go over it a few times to pack it down and even up the edges
5:00 hear the whistle---work is over for today besides it will be dark in a few

We are blessed to live in a beautiful area where we are surrounded by mountains, forests and wilderness area----plus much more.

In the upper left hand corner are the Twin Sisters and poking up on the far left of said image is the tippy top of Mount Baker.   Mt. Baker Elevation is 10,781 ft (3886m) and the Sisters elevation is 7,000ft (2130m)
going clockwise we have Baker, Mt. Rainier  el. 14,411ft (4,392m) and the Sisters again and the bottom image is Mt. Baker

Winter Barns

Well for the most part our winters are mild.  Not much snow but can be cold.  These barns were taken this past week when we went up river to photograph Eagles

I do like this barn
