Welcome September

September 1st theme for City Daily Photo~~HERE~~is Photographing the Photographer.  The photographer is usually the person you never see---preferring to be behind the camera not in front of it.
Here I am way up high in the North Cascade Mountains of Washington State

Hollyhocks

I have some of the big tall (over 10ft tall) Hollyhocks but I like the mini ones.  I have them in pinks and yellow
They grow to 2-3ft tall and are so cute

Outdoor Wednesday

We live mostly outdoors and we live on the Tree Farm and this is why.
This is my Grand-daughter riding her 3yr old horse out on the trails for the first.  She has been training this baby since the horse was 3months old----and now the first ride.  Both did well!

Treasures at the Fair

These are permanent fixtures at the Stanwood Fair

Blacksmith shop.
Little log cabin with windows added

A cedar stump house.  This land was so covered with huge trees that the settles would temporarily live in a stump.  Hollowed out and with a roof it was quite snug----I imagine it was mostly bachelor loggers

Working in our woods

We burn wood in the winter for warmth---wood is the best.  Bob has been out felling trees but this one went down in a windstorm 3 years ago and enough was salvaged to last for awhile so we are salvaging the rest for this year.  Last year we dropped several large Alder finished them up and tackled this big guy,

the trees are big in our woods
 This was/is a Hemlock

I get to play and take pictures------love this Maidenhair Fern
This is a walk from pasture to woods-----peek inside and see big Fergie (tractor)

Across the Valley

I have always liked this setting.  I like the farm at the foot of the hills. I like the way the two hills form a valley for the farm to settle in. In winter with snow on the ground and not all the lush green it looks like a hidden gem.

Fairground Mural

These murals are on the one older restroom (the only cement brick building on the fairgrounds) at the fairground.  The building is by the horse arena.  The murals were painted by Luke Plambeck in 1992.

Stanwood is a small town and the fair is billed The Stanwood/Camano Community Fair---the largest community fair in Washington.  It is a very busy 3 day event

An old Barn

I took these pictures today on an old back road.  The last time I took a picture of this barn it had about a dozen goats rambling around it.  It looks abandoned now.

Peeking through the trees
 A sweet old barn
 Coming apart
