Color and Mushrooms

'Tis that time of year.........
So much color and if one knows their Mushrooms it is time to go hunting.  We only hunt the Chanterelles because they are they only ones I know for sure.

Farms and color in the Valley

I took these shots yesterday in Skagit Valley.  I was hoping for more color but the leaves are falling now, they will be all bare soon.  I like the hills behind our house.

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for many thing and here are a few.  Always thankful I wake up each morning.

Thankful for the colors seen in the wood from the back pasture
Seeing the beautiful clouds and enjoying the day

And there is Jacky wrapped up in his blankets
Colorful leaves and Stellar Jay feathers
Thankful we still have apples to use---I'd better get busy

Sign of our times

We have had several days of heavy rain so of course the rivers are rising.  The sun was out today and no rain in the forecast for several days.

 Look at the fence posts
Yes the water is over the road

Fall Scenes

I think the color of the leaves are brighter this year than before.  Mainly because it was a dry summer--my guess.

A favorite

I like this farm in the cleft of this hill but when I saw the colors of the hillside I almost missed the farm and barn.  See the barn---well at least it's roof.

And the answer to an age old question~~~why are barns red??

They are back!

The Snow Geese over winter in the PNW and specially in Skagit Valley.  80 to 100,000 flood the farmers fields from October to March or April.  They come from the far North---they breed on the NE Russia tundra as far as Greenland.

Aren't they a joy!

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for many things.  One that I got to raise my girls with ponies and horses and that my Grand-daughter get to follow her dream with horses.  She is a barrel racer living in Arizona now---working with horses and barrel racing.
Her good horse Mac or Macaronie was injured several years ago.  Her words here---"20 entries or 200 entries 1st place is still first place, 6th run back since a neck and head injury and this guy wins the dang thing🔥"

Hunters Moon.....

.....or Harvest Moon.  The first full moon in October is called the Hunters Moon.  The Harvest Moon is the Full Moon nearest the September equinox, which occurs around September 22. Most years, the Harvest Moon is in September, but around every three years, it is in October. So........you call it

When the Moon first came up it played peek a boo with the clouds but finally rose above the scattered clouds and showed it's true Harvest colors
