My Mother's house hasn't sold yet and she is unhappy about that. I was in a small shop before I left to go visit her and saw this small sculpture and immediately thought of her. It reminds me of her---the 20s-30s beach girl. But it was the wistful expression on her face that got me. So I had to get it for her--of course! Even though she doesn't want to leave the Island she is ready but her house isn't moving. DRAT!!

I did go to visit my Mother on Whidbey Island yesterday. It was a nice day but no sun but also no rain. Fantastic clouds and all the mountains were out at times. (no mt. pics Jacob)
We visited, I took her shopping etc and we went for a nice ride. We went to Coupeville and Fort Casey.
Fort Casey State Park is located on Whidbey Island in Washington state. Admiralty Inlet was considered so strategic to the defense of Puget Sound in the 1890s that three forts, Fort Casey on Whidbey Island, Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island, and Fort Worden, were built at the entrance with huge guns creating a "Triangle of Fire" that could theoretically thwart any invasion attempt by sea. Fort Casey is now a 467 acres marine camping park. Fortunately there was never an invasion. Just tourists today.

Well, tell your mom that the house will sell when the right people walk through the door: they will say, "This is it!"
Then, it's a done deal. Trouble is sometimes it takes awhile before those people show up.
So glad you got to spend the day with her...I would guess that she treasures that time with you more than anything else.
Whaddya mean no "mountains"? I can see mountains in at least two of these photos! Nicely done, MB.
Hope your weekend is warm and wonderful!
The sculpture is adorable! It reminds me of my grandmother. She used to tell me stories of Saturday night dances on the pier at the beach where we grew up. I hope your mother's house sells soon.
I really like the sculpture as well. Hopefully your mother's house will sell soon -- it's certainly in a beautiful location. Fort Casey looks like a wonderful park to visit.
Jacob's advice applies to each and every sales situation, no matter the product.
Nice of you to pick up that little statue for mom. I'm sure she liked it -:)
I'm sure someone will fall in love with the house!
Seems you're like me, you can't help getting little gifts for others!
That last shot is a dream, it's gorgeous!
Sorry about the house. I was a real estate broker for 25 years and certainly wish you well. Thanks for your kind thoughts and pix of home.
I was just reading over a http://anenglishgirlrambles.blogspot.com how much she lovd the sea, and then your opening verse jumped out at me.
Where will your mother relocate once she sells her home? Not too far from the sea, I hope.
Hi There, Just dropping by to say HI. We have snow-snow-snow today/tonight.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it... Can you just imagine how excited I am????
Is your Mom moving in with you--or near you when her house sells????
Enjoyed seeing Fort Casey..
Hugs,
Betsy
In today's climate patience is needed to sell, but it will well, and hopefully sooner than later, if that is her desire.
It will be hard for her to leave such a place. But it sounds like she's ready. You weren't kidding about the clouds. These shots are so beautiful, particularly that last one.
The clouds look amazing!
How frustrating for your mother.
Are house sales slow in your area right now? Maybe warmer weather will bring more people out to check her place out.
What a sweet daughter you are to purchase the sculpture! I bet she was pleased!
