MY OTHER BLOG--TAKE A CHANCE
Have you ever noticed that a lot of animals ears are shaped like triangles.
These dogs belong in my family.
Look at those triangle ears. This is Bandit my daughter's ranch pup.
My dog Bingo--one ear up one ear down
This is Buster--not my dog but what great triangle ears
This is Napoleon--a different daughter's dog
Even Cats who sleep with dogs have triangle ears

Before I continue I just wanted to say that an acquaintance of mine is missing in the Oso landslide.
Her name is Brandy Ward. Her husband was found and is in the hospital. A tragic situation.
These pictures were taken On the Sauk River Rd.
This is the Sauk River with Mt. Baker in the background.
Since I am in the picture obviously it was Bob who took the pic
Awesome age and size. Makes you wonder why they cut it down.
Makes me look like I am a pin head. What? I didn't hear that.
Osprey--Fishhawk---Seahawk--(pandion baliaetus)
These images I took last Summer on Whidbey Island.
Osprey feed almost exclusively on live fish. They hover over water, plunging feet first, some times catching prey well below the surface. Their feet are equipped with bumps called spicules that assist in holding fish. They often nest near humans.
Feed me!!
Gone fishing.

Yesterday we thought we would try to see how close we could get to the Tragic disaster--the Oso Landslide. When the press say it was about 55 miles from Seattle that would be as the crow flies. We live much closer but we traveled a bit farther in a round a bout way to get there. We first went to Darrington the closest town up river. We then followed the river until we saw the roadblock and the Sheriff. We parked as there was no more car travel. We walked down river to another roadblock and were told to get a good vantage point was about 2 miles up a narrow road. A nice hike. Off we went only to be stopped by 2 more sheriff Deputies said nobody's going up. but after a little sweet talking they let us go warning us to get out of the way of emergency vehicles and Power trucks. We went as far as we could then the road was too narrow and we didn't want to get pushed over the cliff by fat power trucks. It was quite a hike.
We did talk to a Fox News person who wondered why we got through but they were turned away.
This is Darrington.
The Deputies said the only suspect-looking one would be the dog and I said this sweet ole thing. LOL
The map show the distance from Stanwood to Oso along the river. West Stanwood is in the flood plain. The two x's above Stanwood are where my house and Bob's house are. The line from Oso to Stanwood shown on the map is the River itself. As you can see there is no direct route well one that's not blocked.
This scene is up river.
This is downriver. a muddy mess. Here is the landslide itself. I really am glad we couldn't get any closes. We talked to an independent reporter who said it was just awful. The slide itself is one mile wide. Imagine!
more up river.
The river is making it's way through the mud and debris and will create it's own channel so probably no major flooding down river.
Macro photography (or photomacrography or macrography and sometimes macrophotography), is extreme close up photography, usually of very small subjects,. By some definitions, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative or image sensor is life size or greater. However in other uses it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size.
And to a lesser degree with today's digital cameras it is easy to use a macro setting to get closeups of many things.

ENJOY!!
I am so glad that Spring is knocking on our door. It is still too wet and cold in the valley for the farmers to do any heavy duty farming but they are out there poking and prodding the earth. Meantime flowers are beginning to bloom around the house.
The Flowering Cherry is doing it's thing. Even the fly like it. It was frozen on there.
The Little Rhody is popping
The Forsythia is gorgeous
The Tulips are trying
The Periwinkle (vinca minor) is shining
The Camellia is so pretty. I remember walking to school in the Spring and picking the neighbors flowers to take to teacher.
Daffs are daffy
Saucer Magnolia is going to open any minute
And the sky was cloudy but beautiful.
Today is the First day of Spring. And subtle changes are going on in the Valley.
A soft gentle sunset
Fat puffy white clouds
And dark ominous ones
Snow Geese thinking about winging their way up North
Gold in the Valley
Resident Eagles nesting
Trumpeter Swan gobbling their last bite before heading North also.
All this and more going on. A tableau unfolding before us.
