Broken Dreams

I saw this lying forlornly in the dirt, the young boy, standing not too far away, holding the other half, looking very dejected.

Roadtrip

Went on a short roadtrip yesterday. beautiful sunny day, although it was cold, but I was in the car. Went to BakerLake under the shadow of Mt. Baker (10,800 ft) and then and down through Darrington with magnificent Whitehorse Mt. in the background.

First pic is Mt. Baker and the second is sun shinging at the top of Whitehorse.

This area is my backyard--so to speak. Round trip around 140 miles. including little side forays up deadend roads.

I know we are only supposed to post one picture but this area is so beautiful and I took so many pics----what's a body to do? hehe

Winter survivor

It is amazing the different small plants that survive the winter---whether the winter is hard or not. Spring is acomin'! Buds are getting fat and many bulb types are pushing out of the ground.

Birds of a Feather

Many sea birds winter in our area. Some are also residents year-round. This is a Goldeneye. I think it is a male Barrow's Goldeneye (Bucephala islandica) . Do you think it is the Barrow's or Common Goldeneye? Or is it something else?????? MB

Somebody likes the weather

We are having our typical North west Washington weather. Cold! Wet! rainy! I've had enough but these guys love it.
We are green year-round because we are so wet.

Spring

I write this as a gentle snow is trickling down from the skies.

Spring will be here soon no matter what anybody's groundhog has to say. I have crocus coming up and pussywillow trees are everywhere.

Great House

I love this house! If I have the address correct it was built in 1903 but extensively remodeled. I will have to do more research.

Old Town

This is a tavern in the older part of Stanwood. At one time a boarding house and hotel, late 1800s to early 1900s.

Misty Meadows

Although we have been getting spittings of snow and even a touch overnight, as i write today the sun is shinging so maybe the west coast groundhog will see his shadow and we will have 6 more weeks of....boo-hiss---winter. Yesterday early evening the fog rolled in.

This is the road to my house.

Across the valley

This is Mt. Baker to the North and East of me. See the snow line, I live at the snow line but love the valley.
