Springtime in the Rhodys

Well, almost summer.  even though we have had buckets of rain we do have some awful pretty flowers.  These are some of the big guys.  This is the left side of the front of the house with the left half of the driveway on the right side the driveway goes to the barn and other stuff. 

 This is one of my Garden faeries.  She is so sweet.

Is there light at the end of the Rainbow?

We have been having very rainy weather.  Somedays we may see a spot of sun but mostly just gray skies and more rain.  We did have a bright spot the other evening when the eastern sky was so black but as the sun set in the west it peeked through---still raining of course--allowing a beautiful rainbow for us to see.

Memorial Day~~~~~~An American Holiday

This is Memorial Day week-end.  Memorial Day is a day of remembering the Men and Women who died while serving their country.  We are free because they were brave.  Remember!!

 ............over the collapsed Mount Vernon Interstate 5 bridge.

The pictures are out of order but I didn't plan it that way.  The bridge went down around 7PM and 2 vehicles went in the Skagit river.  Minor to slight injuries--no fatalities--.  The bridge girders was hit by an oversize vehicle and kaboom down she goes.  The first picture is south of the the area over I-5 the rest are the bridge itself.  Everybody is ok thank goodness.
Big news in little town.  We live 10 minutes or so south of the bridge.
My youngest heard it and saw it too.

I cut this old overgrown Rhody to the ground several years ago.  Slowly it made it's way back and now for the first time it is flowering.  Too pretty.

Froghopper~~~~~~~~~~Macro Monday

 This is a Spit Bug or others may say Spittlebug or Froghopper.  They make a foam on a new plant leaf to hide themselves while they suck the juice from the plant.  Since they are slow movers and easy to wash off they are only a pest and don't really do much harm.  Unless you have a mass infestation.  They hop from plant to plant like a frog would.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Happy Mother's day to everyone who qualifies!!!
Here I am back in 1965.  by then I had been married a few years--yes it's true---well I was 5 when I married and he did promise me my own HORSE.  Of course I said yes I just didn't know all the other stuff that came along with it.  haha!

 And then 40 years later--a humble Bag Lady.  such is life.

I hope all you darlings out there let your Mums know you appreciate them.  MB

Yesterday morning was foggy but it burned off and we had a very nice day..  This morning it is foggy again but I know we will have another shirt sleeve day.

Dally, Kylee's other horse (you all know Macaronie by now) is giving everyone the ole raspberry.  Yeehaw!!!   He thinks he is so funny.  HA!

The Hummers are back~~~~~~~~World Bird Wednesday

 Thus is the Rufous Hummingbird (selasphorus rufus)  the most common Hummingbird in the PNW and also at 3 1/2 inches the smallest bird in the region.  Above is the Male and below the Female.  Aren't they pretty.

Summertime Barn for Barn Charm

I took this last summer at Sunday Lake which is part of Stanwood. Then I put the file somewhere and lost it.  It found it's way home and I get to share it at last.  I thought the flowers in front made the barn look happy.  Someone has taken care of this barn but there are no animals around.
