Admiralty Head Lighthouse
This light and Fort Casey's big guns stood watch over the entrance to Puget Sound for decades. Today they watch over a breath-taking view of the Olympic mountains, Port Townsend ferry, shipping lanes, and even the ocassional Orca whales.
Built in 1861 and rebuilt in 1903, the lighthouse guided tall ships toward the Whidbey Island shore where they could fill their sails with wind. It was the last brick lighthouse designed by renowned German architect Carl Leick - its walls 18 inches thick to withstand the earthquakes that shake western Washington.

Coupeville Blockhouse
This is a blockhouse on Whidbey Island in Coupeville. This one was first built as a cabin and turned into a blockhouse into 1855. It was restored in 1930 by The Ladies of the Round Table to honor of The Pioneer Mothers.
The headstone is beside the Blockhouse although I do not believe there is any significance in that.
The language is Irish Gaelic/Celtic-----I think.
There are 4 blockhouses in Coupeville. I know where 3 are---where is the 4th?

Nooksack Falls
So I managed to finally access my computer (it is a server problem) but now blogger will let me upload only one picture.
This is Nooksack Falls and the picture does not do it justice. The water falls about 100 ft in to the Nooksack River. The Falls was featured in the movie 'The Deer Hunter'. The roar is magnificent. MB

Finding Mt. Baker
Yesterday, Monday, my friend and I went in Search of Mt. Baker. Well, here is his Jeep and here is how deep the snow is.
And here is where we could go no further----the snow covered the road seemingly forever. See the stop sign amd the mound of snow? The road may be opened in July.
Remember when I posted a picture of Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake? Well here is the mountain but the lake is under 20 feet of snow.

Blue sky and an Indian Chief~~~~~~~Sky Watch
Tuesday was a nice and mostly sunny day. A wonderful blue sky with some nice white clouds. This is the NEW ferryboat Chetzemoka (named after an important Indian chief) crossing the bay from Keystone on Whidbey Island to Port Townsend on the peninsula.
