This is Mt. Erie (somehow I put the pics up in the wrong order--but...) a pure rock outcrop and tree hill. Rated, I think, as a beginner to moderate rock climb. No I did not climb the rocks but came up the road. 1. view from a rock outcrop 2. some Mt. Erie rocks 3. view from the top--Campbell Lake and beyond 4. Story of Jon 5. Mt. Erie
I have climbed at Mt. Erie many times, mostly in the early 70’s and just a couple of years ago. It is always sad when someone looses their life climbing, especially at such a young age.
It looks like Tuesday will be my last posting on Sitka Daily Photo. In these questionable economic times I feel very lucky that my business is taking off and growing. But, I know it is not going to grow on its own, so that means I need to put more time into it. Of course that means less time for leisure things like blogging and taking photos.
I’ll keep checking in on your blog from time to time, because I always enjoy your post and photos.
It really does look like the view from a plane. That's definitely a place to be extra careful - so sorry about Jon - tragic story. Beautiful photos though!!!
I've always enjoyed the view from on top of Mt. Erie. I remember many years ago barbecuing a steak up there as I was waiting for sunset. Glad to hear you used the road :)
Your fairy is called Columbine Goblindancer She is a bringer of riches and wealth. She lives in mushroom fields and quiet meadows. She is only seen when the bees swarm and the crickets chirrup. She wears lilac and purple like columbine flowers. She has gentle green wings like a butterfly.

That rock pic is too beautiful.
Sad story, dont slip, keep on the road.
Lovely photos! What a nice view from the top. Sorry about Jon though.
Excellent photos, looks like you were up in a plane.

Looks like quite a climb, and the reminder of what can happen.
