Wild Bird Wednesday~~~~~~~Rufous Hummingbird

The Hummers are back.  One came by a few weeks ago and we hurriedly put out the feeders.  This is a little chubby guy. The Rufous Hummingbird (selasphorous rufus)is the smallest bird in the PNW.  It is 3 1/2 inches look at those cute tiny feet.T
He looks so grumpy sitting in the Filbert tree.

Wing your way to Stewart's http://paying-ready-attention-gallery.blogspot.com/http://paying-ready-attention-gallery.blogspot.com/ to see many wild and worldly birds.  Enjoy

Pretty amazing shots. These birds move so fast it's hard to get a good picture of them and you got several. Nice of you to put out feeders, too.

These are great photos of the little guy. It will still be several weeks before our hummers return.

They don't show up here in Ohio until around the first of May. We're always so tickled to see them.

Splendid captures! It'll be awhile before we see them here. They might be small... but they're fierce!

Oh love the shot where you can see what looks like the shadow of his wings but you can actually see the wings! Great photos.

What a cracking bird - its only in the last few days that I have found out just how many different sorts go hummers there are - over 330! I thought I have done well to see 3 sorts!!

Great pictures - it must be remarkable to have these as garden birds.

Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

PS: thanks for the comments about the email - I just think I was shocked by the whole episode!

I won't be seeing any hummers for awhile and my feeders would likely freeze if I put them out right now!

Beautiful captures of this little gem. xo

They are amazing little creatures. My hummers are back too, but they are the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds. I love watching them and so do my grandkids!

Grand Dot always said for us to watch for the agua(ms) to bloom when we see the blooms start to appear, hang out our feeder for the hummer. So far not even a starting bloom. Peace

I love hummingbirds. So far our earliest appearance has been April 15. But that's not far away. - Margy
