Jays are among the most intelligent birds and sometimes the most annoying. Comical to watch also.
This guy is a Stellar Jay even though we call them just plain Blue Jays. Yes I know there actually is another Jay called Blue Jay but we are just persnickety out this way.
Jockeying for position with a Red Shafted Flicker.
Usually other birds vacate when the Blue Jay comes along but this guy said "You're not getting my suet".
Posing
Getting away and coming back to pose again. Usually they fly away when they sense any movement but this one said I'm not leaving the good stuff

What a handsome fellow.
Enjoyed seeing your Stellar Jay photos!
The only jays we see here are the Blue Jays.
Have a great week-end!
Hello, pretty lighting on the Stellar Jay! Beautiful bird and photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
I remember watching one at a Harrison Lake campground using a stick to poke into a hole in a tree branch to get to a bug to eat. - Margy
They are beautiful. We get the regular blue jays here, and gray jays out in the countryside.
Blue Jays can be a real pain. But so can Cardinals and we've got a lot of those here. Cute shots. And yes, we lived in Stone Creek for several years but it wasn't for us. Now, we're probably more ready for that lifestyle...or we're too old to know the difference.
Jay and flicker, now there's a tag team to empty your feeders!
I remember the Stellar Jays from our trips out west in the 80 's. So blue!
they sure are a handsome bird...need to look them up and see if there is a difference between male and female.
