Dirty Bird

I went to the store up in Burlington about 30 minutes north and I circled back home through part of the Skagit Valley.  It was wet, windy and muddy and I found lots of dirty birds.   Eagles love this kind of weather and I saw lots today.  The Trumpeter Swan love the mud too.  Sorta ruins our image of the elegant Swan gliding through the still lake waters.  True life here.
The Eagle must be changing from immature to full Bald and he just looks dirty.   And you can tell by the ruffled feathers that is a bit windy out.

Love wonderful the portraits of the eagle and the swan are so elegant, even in the mud!

You got such neat photos of the birds' ruffled feathers. The swans do look a bit like naughty kids splashing around in the mud.

Nice shots, MB. I think we brought the rain with us to Florida. :)

I love the second shot of the eagle also. Something about the swan picture makes me nervous...like I'm just waiting for one to slip and fall in the mud like a bride in her beautiful white gown.

I laughed out loud! What great shots of that "dirty bird," and those grubby swans! You done good. I don't think I've ever seen an eagle looking so scruffy...I always think of them as cleanly majestic!

Thank you for your charming comments today! Be careful you don't fall in the mud trying to take pictures of dirty birds, though!

Even with the mud, they are still beautiful!

It is funny to think of muddy birds. That second shot really shows how windy it is. Great captures. Nice to see the animals living life as it's handed out.

I never would have thought that a dirty bird could look so good. It's nice to know that some critters appreciate all that mud.

That Eagle's talons are HUGE! I didn't know their feet were so big compared to their bodies... =)

It might be dirty but still looks awesome, especially on top.

And yet they are still so beautiful.

He does look like he's been playing in the mud puddles with the Lil' Rascals alright!

Birds really don't care do they if their feathers are a tad dirty. Super shots MB!

These are great! How can they help getting dirty as wet as it's been? I've been out around the Skagit Valley the last couple of days seeing eagles and swans and barns and having fun photographing them. There has been lots of extra water in the fields!

Note to self: get a better camera! I love the convenience of a tiny camera that fits in my pocket, but your shots are so amazing that I am inspired to do better. Who knew eagles got so muddy??? They always look so pristine and starkly contrasted when I see them.
