The Trumpeter Swan winter here every year. They show up in October and zoom away in March. Swan that winter her are from Alaska
Various Ducks around the edges
Lots of resident Eagles hanging around. Many come from the far North to winter over also
And always a great draw are the Snow Geese who winter over coming from Wrangle Island in Russia

It doesn't seem quite fair that you are inundated with trumpeter swans, and eagles and snow geese while we have to make do with sparrows and wrens and robins and other wee birds. Why can't trumpeter swan and snow geese come down to Florida; for a week or two? Bob did a great job capturing those snow geese . I was wondering if they poop all over when they fly over and how you clean up the mess. Hmmm....maybe you ought keep your snow geese and I'll learn to love our sparrows and wrens. :))

The Skagit Valley has so many reasons to love it there, especially the amazing migrating bird population in winter.
The swans are such beauties.
Lots of beautiful birds. The other day when we were flying to Skagit I thought about all your pictures of fields filled with birds and flocks flying in the air. About ten years ago we hit a seagull over Orcas Island. It made a big dent in our tail but we were able to make it safely back to Bellingham. Hitting a swan or an eagle would be a whole different proposition.
You sure get some great winter birds!
We took photos of the exact same places - at probably the exact same time. There were three or four cars coming and going alongside the road as we took photos - moving our car up closer as the others left. Interesting coincidence - I have views from the very same locations - we might have been right behind or in front of each other that day. Great shots!!! Have you seen any shorebirds out towards Bayview yet? We keep looking, but so far only a few in the winter ponds on the east side of the road.
