Eagle in a tree for WBW

I was in the Valley on a quiet country road watching this Eagle pair playing and dancing in the sky.  I wanted to watch them and I knew I could never find them in my view finder to take a picture---so I just watched. Finally one flew off and the other landed in this gnarled old tree.  So here I am stopped in the middle of the road watching and decide to take a few pictures--which I proceed to do when I notice that he is preparing for lift off and I am focused and ready.  I look up and here is a car heading for me--I AM practically crosswise in the road so as I look back the Eagle takes off and I lose a major (for me) photo op.  Life, as it happens.

It is almost lift off.

Join the fly-in over at:http://www.pineriverreview.blogspot.com/ to see more birds.  Enjoy!

The adventurous life of MB. The major photo op wasn't a total catastrophe after all.

What a majestic bird! Oh, the choices we have to make as photographers...shot or collision? You made the right choice because you still got wonderful pictures.

Those dog-gone drivers... don't they know when we're trying to take pictures? Sheesh! =)

You got 2 great shots here, anyway...
great patience & shooting!!! =)

Hiya,

The tree makes a perfect foil for that majestic bird. I am suffering greatly from 'bird picture envy'. An affliction I wouldn't wish on anyone :-)

I cannot count the number of shot of a lifetime I have missed for various more imperative reasons, and yours definitively was imperiative!!!

Very nice shots anyway! That "perfect shot" seems always to be spoiled by something!

Ah, but you got to watch them play so you may have lost a photo op but had a wonderful experience. I would love to see just one eagle in the sky. Peace

What you did get is awesome. Better than being run over.

That's great that they didn't appear to mind you were there!

You sound like me this past Saturday. Blocking the road, oblivious to the traffic which thankfully was minimal. But the eagles just capture our attention. What else are we supposed to do? :)

Nice photos. Great to get such good views of the birds and photos too.

nice photos - how did you manage to be almost on the same height as the eagle?

These are good shots even if they weren't the one you wanted. It is so frustrating to see a wonderful shot and have some little thing spoil it. But patience is the key. Eventually that good shot will happen, and then you will feel even more satisfaction.

Oh Yeah. The Eagle crouches as they always do about two seconds before liftoff, you've already clicked off a coulple excellent reference shots and you know the great B.I.F. picture is at hand when... So begins many a story!
Electric images+ great story= Fantastic post!
P.S. Did you get a picture of the car?

Aren't they beautiful...though beautiful is not quite the right word. But you know what I mean...

I chuckled at this MB - many times I've been in the same position yet have found, usually, sometime later the opportunity arises again. As it is these are great shots!
