Four and Twenty Blackbirds

As you can see this picture was taken just before the tree leafed out. Right then it was FULL of these black birds.

It is Memorial Day sometimes called Decoration Day here in the US. Remember all who have gone before us.
Enjoy and Be Safe. MB

Nice idea to mix birds and flags. I'm sure you meant the opposite that the flag was for the birds. I see Mt Baker once a year on my way to B.C. I am going to have to look up Stanwood on the map. Are you near Bellingham?

I have been busy away from the screen and see that you have posted quite a few things I need to comment on. First of all, the blackbird tree reminds me of the the oriental trees that grace paintings and tables. I think you know so much about our birds, I would never guess that golen bird was a blackbird. I would like to have seen the foals but admired the bird in that post. I loved the photos of Kylee and her golden mane flowing behind her. ? What are those socks for on the Macaroni feet. He or She is a gorgeous horse, I love how the sun was shining on the muscles and the coat is so shiny. Another ? What is that dark spot on Mt. Rainer on the right side down about an inch from the top. I have not noticed that before in other photos. I always remind myself to put Mt. Rainer on my bucket list everytime you post her beauty. Spring is looking good out your way. Wow, I would puff up like a banty hen if my clemetis was that full. How are the little goats?
Peace

Hi Mary Beth, Hope you are having a wonderful day... Yes, it is a day to remember those who died for our freedom.

Did you grab those blackbirds and bake them in a pie?????? ha

Hugs,
Betsy

We get a lot of black birds in our neighborhood at night -- they flock to one particular corner and purch on the wires, buildings, trees, etc. One business put a fake owl in their tree -- the birds sit beside it! Didn't scare them one bit!

Happy Memorial Day, MB!

I'm trying to catch up with my blog reading. So sorry to be delinquent but I've been busy with two local groups: garden club plant sale (2 days) and friends of the library.

PLUS the weather has been so good, I just had to pull out a few weeds (OK, a LOT of weeds) so I could plant some of the plants I purchased at the before mentioned plant sale.

I have another busy week ahead but I should be at my computer more than last week.

Hope you had fun with your family today!

OH YIKES! I saw the flag photo but didn't see the top one until I went back. That sure is a ton of black birds!

From the thumbnail, all these looked like leaves...

Good eye and great capture.

Wow, now that is a huge number of birds, almost look like leaves at a glance. Hope you had a great Memorial Day.

"The Birds".... somehow I dont feel comfortable about the picture... not to say that it is not a good picture, but you know what I mean... did they look at you rather strangely???
