Black Dog

This monument to Black Dog, a bison bull, was erected in 1957 in the Wenas Valley Cemetary. I thought it was kind of interesting to do that. Maybe the sun was too hot and I was seeing things......................

Oh thats funny, the bison is the first ancestor, the great great grandfather of the herd!
And therefore he has got a monument in the graveyard - a great story!

But it is fascinating that a bison is honored that way. Usually, only pets are buried and remembered...

Maybe I have his spirit in me: I was born in 1957 when he died ;) A nice thought to be as strong and proud as a bison!
Happy sunday MB! If its too hot come into the pool!

I found this very interesting. Strange to find it in a cemetery, but the family must have felt that he was very important to them. I didn't realize that people kept pedigrees on Bison. I thought that was just horses, pets and other farm animals. Learn something every day...

An interesting post. I did a story about bison once and a lot of research for it. I didn't know about this herd though.
