That's a lot of elk. For some time the elk in our area were hunted out. About twenty years ago they were introduced again into several areas and they have multiplied quite rapidly. The ones that have moved towards town have been a concern for locals, but the ones in the backcountry have grown into large groups. So much so, that for the last few years there have been a few elk tags issued to hunters. In a way that is fair, since they did most of the work to get them reintroduced. - Margy
