Sunday Super Moon

Sunday August 10, 2014 is supposed to be the largest looking moon of 2014 actually an illusion.  One would be hard pressed to see any difference between this full moon and the last full moon.

Lake Cresent

Lake Crescent is a deep lake located  approximately 17 miles (27 km) west of Port Angeles Wa.  At an official maximum depth of 624 feet (190 m), also the maximum depth of the depth sounder used to find that depth  it is officially the second deepest lake in Washington. Unofficial depth measurements of more than 1,000 feet (300 m) have been recorded.
Lake Crescent is known for its brilliant blue waters and exceptional clarity, caused by a lack of nitrogen in the water which inhibits the growth of algae. It is located in a popular recreational area.  The Spruce Railroad Trail follows the grade of what was once the tracks of a logging rail line along the shores of the lake. Following this trail on the north side of the lake, one can find the entrance to an old logging tunnel as well as "Devils Punch Bowl", a popular swimming and diving area

 We stopped here on our camping trip to Neah Bay.  Gorgeous.

Good Fences

Pictures of our pastures at Bob's Place complete with old pasture fence, logging operation up on the hill and a buck deer trying to get away.

The view across the lower pasture.   Way up on the hill logging is going on.  We are right next to a huge many thousand acre tree farm.

Cute Hummer for Wild Bird Wednesday

 Rufous Hummingbird female. Doesn't this one look like it has long red legs.  Cracks me up.
  We have had lots of Hummers around this year.  Earlier, late Spring to early Summer all we saw were Males and they are so pretty.  But now we have several females flitting around.  They love the Crocosmia.

 More Crocosmia.  They love the Nasturtium, Petunias and even the Lavender.

Blue Ribbon Winners

 These are the pictures we entered into the Stanwood-Camano Fair.  We were allowed to each enter two photographs.
All 4 pictures got blue ribbons!!

The first two are Bob's beautiful selections.  My two follow.

  The best of the best---our favorites.  Two working horses at the Lynden Plowing Contest.  Bob took this last May.

 Sail Rock and Seal Rock taken last month near Neah Bay, Wa.  Good area to catch Lingcod and other cod and Rock fish.  Yummy good.

Here are just a very few of the flowers around the house:
Lower left corner--Crocosmia with Hummingbird-- above Echinacea or Purple Cone Flower-- next Morning Glory (Annual--Ipomoea) and below Kniphofia or Red Hot Poker and lastly Scarlet Flax with the Marguerite and being overtaken by Nasturtium.
I like a flower bed full of different flowers----until it just bursts!
