Think Spring is what many are doing right now. Winter weather is becoming a bore---only we have been having a very mild winter--but to those still under the snow pac here are Jolly Tulips from last March.

The Schooner Equator--1888

I was down in Everett and I always like to stop at the 10th ST. Marina. I have posted pics about the marina before.
This poor old Historic Schooner is housed there.

I only got the history pages backwards. I am going to add the sketch.

Click on any to enlarge.

The two-masted pygmy trading schooner Equator inspired passengers Robert Louis Stevenson and Lloyd Osbourne in 1889 to write The Wrecker. Originally built in San Francisco in 1888 as a copra trader, it was converted to steam in 1902 and eventually abandoned in the harbor at Everett, Washington in 1953. The vessel was Everett’s first artifact placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. The remains of the hull are protected by a shed near the Port of Everett’s Marina Park. Several attempts to rebuild the ship have failed, and restoration is considered unlikely.

Thursday's Eagles

The Eagles must have been feeling Spring in the air. There were lots of them hanging out in trees. When I went out to the mailbox there was a pair wheeling about in the sky. They are so neat to watch.

Psst! Is he wearing an overcoat???

Sky Watch morning

The first picture is the moon (believe me the moon is up there) at 7:15 this morning and the second is Mt. Rainier 2 hours later. Look at the difference in the sky. It did turn out to be a sunny day until about 2 and then overcast and chilly. Nice though--no rain. ha! MB

To enjoy skies from all over the world or to participate go to www.skyley.blogspot.com

Recent Visitors

All these birds have been my visitors lately. Must be Spring (early).

Well the Snow Geese are in the Valley not at my house but I just had to show a pic of them.

The first pic the bird said "NO WAY" and all I saw was feet.

Monday Morning Sunrise, Moon and mountain

Monday morning as the moon was quietly going down in the western sky the first hint of color was in the eastern sky. Soon the sky was filled with orange, reds and pinks. Mt. Rainier appeared tinged in pink with a cloud cover that eventually completely covered her.
And then all the color was gone and the sun did come out from behind the trees.

It stayed a cloudy and gray day but Mt. Baker was out and the sun was shining on her. I took a shot today from Fir Island and am using it as my new header.
