Golden Hour

Golden Hour---Before Sunset

Because the contrast is less during the golden hour, shadows are less dark, and highlights are less likely to be overexposed. The warm color of the low Sun is often considered desirable to enhance the colors of the scene. It is the best time of day for any type of photography since the light is properly diffused and warm. (Wikipedia)

These shots were take  from the back yard yesterday, looking into the tree farm except for the Rainbow which was taken on the way home from Stanwood two days ago.

My Bingo

Three years ago my sweet Bingo left us to find the Rainbow Bridge.  He was the sweetest, most gentle Staffie pup around.  He was 11 I think .  I got him to keep me company when my Husband passed away.

He was a happy and silly dog.  He liked to sit on my bed and look out the window.  One day I found him sitting up to the dining room table with the newspaper in front of him.  Do you suppose....nah.

He loved riding around in the Gator feeding the horses etc.

Look how little he was sitting in the Gator compared with the above photo.

Sky Watch

So I got two pictures today, maybe 3.  One is a morning sunrise I took several days ago and the other one is an odd not quite sunset shot.

I was feeding the goats late afternoon and the sun was doing funny hide and seek play with the overcast sky.  All of a sudden it popped out and spread light downward---it just looked odd to me.  This was with my cell phone---not zoomed at all--just the way it was.
This one was taken last Wednesday when we were up river looking for the Salmon eating Eagles.  Very dark skies so quality is not good.

Watching the sky

We did a little road trip today even though it was a bit overcast and maybe not the best for photos but who cares----WE are going somewhere.  We thought we would go up to the North Fork of the Nooksack River and look for Eagles.  It was getting dark on the way home and I got this dark looking (almost) sunset.

Also got several pics of Eagles.   The salmon come from the Ocean and move up river to Spawn and the Eagles nosh on them to keep away the Winter blues-----How  many Eagles do you count?

Christmas Past

Well it is that time of year so I will just go along with that.  It seems everyone is thinking of their Christmas decorating.  I have not  put up any decorations yet but will as it gets closer to the Happy Birthday.

These shots are of some earlier Christmases.

The little  girl and horse are one of my favorites and I have had it for many years

It is fun to decorate and enjoy all the trapping of the holiday.  We must always remember that it is also the special birth of the Christ child

Jacky

Our Jacky is a rescue dog from Hawaii.  He is Bull Terrier and part Whippet.

He is a funny and even silly dog and we love him to pieces.

He came from Hawaii in February and we had snow here.  He did not like the snow very much so he flew above it.

He loves to go for a ride.  He does now anyway.  He used to have high anxiety but not now.

He likes helping around the house---like helping with the Christmas lights

Always ready to play with a stuffed toy.

Watching the sky for Sky Watch

We have had some beautiful skies of late.  Not so many just gray days but lots of sky and clouds and sometimes rainy days.

The first picture I was just taken aback when I saw these clouds streaming from the west---I was on the freeway coming home from Mount Vernon and of course couldn't just stop on the freeway so I had to get off and backtrack and thank goodness the clouds hadn't changed too much.

This shot was taken from my deck looking south towards Mt. Rainier--do you see her?
This shot was taken at my daughter's in Eastern Washing from the ranch.
Also taken on the Ranch

Mosaic Monday

So tomorrow is December 1st. which makes me think about decorating the home for Christmas.  Not a lot to do these days so decorate it is.  This is a pic from last year.

December is when we have Eagles from the North come here to winter over
My grand daughter is in Arizona doing her horse thing

Birds

Some of these shots were taken here at home and some on the drive around the Valley

Eagle in the Doug Fir tree right here at home

Trumpeter Swan
On a dark and dreary day Eagle pair were inspecting their nest.
Another pair maybe going to build a nest---or not.  Really not the right time of year---but there they are
This Towhee was so sweet and posed for several photos
I was trying to get a pic of my bully bird friend---Stellar Jay--- but he buzzed off when he saw me through the window.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Didn't do much today so I had oodles of time to go through some older photo files.  Found a couple of mosaics I made of my grand-daughter at High School Rodeo.

The first one is Goldendale,  Wa. high school rodeo

And this one is from Toppenish Rodeo.  That is Kylee in the center and on the right with her hair flying riding her good horse, Macaronie

Early Morning

We don't see the Sunset because there are too many trees facing west for us to get a good view.  So we usually drive down the road chasing the Sunset.  But looking east from the house is a hill or small mountain called Mt. McMurray and we can see the sun coming over the hill---sometimes exceptional.

Here she comes saying Good Morning

Skagit Valley Signs

Skagit Valley is a beautiful valley in Washington.   Beautiful farmland growing lots of potatoes, corn for cows, lots of seed crops and of course the glorious Tulips and Daffodils.

And of course our Post Office
