We've had the hummingbirds this winter too - our pair comes every day. I didn't bring the feeder indoors last night and it was frozen solid this morning - but the hummingbirds kept coming and staying to drink and drink. I couldn't figure it out - and when I brought it in to thaw and refill I realized that the sugar water was not completely frozen - it was a heavy slush - but not frozen solid. Guess they were getting some food, as they were back all day before I brought it in.
Your shots are great of the hummingbirds at the feeder - and I can't even imagine the joy it brings you to see Mt. Ranier from your own deck - what a fabulous view!!!!
My feeder is indoors - it will go out early in the morning.
...our's are long gone!
Awesome! Hummingbirds aren't easy to photograph with those quick little wings. Really like that first shot.
So sweet! Glad you were able to help them.
They won't show up here again until the end of April.
Rainier's looking stunning!
What a lovely gift to have Hummer in winter. Glad you fed the beauties. Ah, The Lady Mountain in all her glory. I sure hope when I make it out to see her she will come out in such splendor. Peace
BTW Been having computer issues of late so I feel fortunate to come by today.
Hello, I am glad you noticed the frozen feeder. Poor hummers, now they are happy. Great photos. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day and the weekend ahead!
Humming birds are such fun to watch with their amazing flying ability. We don't see them until spring, and then again in the fall as they migrate.
Oh - they're so pretty! I didn't know they stayed in the winter. Your view of Mount Ranier is gorgeous!
Oh, what a stunning view! So kind of you to feed the hummers. I've had to defrost my feeders, too! They are such wonderful little birds. x Karen
They won't be here any time soon...I think the highest it was today was 15! But I would love seeing them.
I thought I saw one by our Christmas lights on the porch. Maybe it was one. - Margy
Tiny, sweet little birds and a huge, grand mountain. Good post!
Always enjoy your hummingbird shots; and your Mt. Ranier photos. I'd even bet you don't use a tripod for those, either! :)
Our hummingbirds go south in the winter.
