This little Douglas Squirrel has been visiting us---well mostly curious about the bird feeders and my new potting bench.
Well Hello!
Whatcha doing?
I was at my potting bench when he peeked in so curious. I was right there--no zoom--almost nose to nose.
Douglas Squirrels (Tamiasciurus douglasii) are small about 13in long and 4-5 in tall. Very sweet and affable. Native to the West coast from Western British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Northern California--on the coast and Coniferous Forests.
They are also called a Chickaree or a Pine Squirrel
You'd better go home or I will pot you up.

I know they're pesky but they look so darn cute!
Love your cute squirrel..I did not know about Douglas Squirrels. Thanks for sharing.. Thank you for linking up to my critter party. Enjoy your weekend!
How cute! A very curious squirrel.
Hello sweetie! I love you!
Cute critter. I like the red belly. Hope he does not become a pest like our gray ones happen to be around our feeder. Peace and have a good day.
oh, i'll trade you 1 one of my bubba fox squirrels for 3 of those tiny ones! :)
I think about how cute they are, then I think about when one bit me, then I think about how cute they...... Great shots.
Cute but devious!
Cute little critter - great pictures. We have these - and big grey squirrels and black squirrels now and then.
You got some great pictures of the little fellow. He definitely was curious about what you were doing.
You must have an animal-friendly nature which these wee critters can sense right off. Amazing he didn't get spooked and run off. He is cute. Love the fluffy tail. Most of our squirrels with the exception of the Fox Squirrel, has scruffy little tails and they're mostly gray!
I didn't mean to make you cry
It was just a beat up chair
It had been close to drowning
Now struggled for some air.
I wish that you had seen it
In its glory days
Many seats had sat there
Even Gabby Hayes.
But now its gone forever
Rotting in the sun
Unless you come and get it
And save it just for fun.
ONE nasty word for these guys VARMINT!
So cute! Wonderful photos!
Very cute! But I'm sensing a bit of disappointment that you didn't have a handout.....
You had to be on your toes to capture that quick little guy. Very cute!
I love squirrels and that's got to be one of the cutest I have ever seen. Terrific shots!
Great set of pictures - he does look like he is on the look out for something new!
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne
Did you try to pet him? He sure is cute.
I can see his nose twitching. Great series!
Perhaps the Douglas squirrel wants to help you out. It's gonna love tulip planting time this fall. ;))
Amazing that you didn't even have to zoom in for these shots... like your new little pet! Great photos.
Oh, MB, I would so love to be there. It has that look about it...I bet you could have it eating from your hand and sitting on your knee in no time.
