This little Falcon (Falco columbarius) called a Merlin was hanging out in the apple orchard scoping out our bird feeders which of course were empty of all the birds. They know a predator when they see one. He stayed awhile looking for lunch and then departed.

Beautiful bird, and beautiful photo!
A lovely image of a beautiful little bird..
Merlin is a handsome fellow!
Cool sighting of the Merlin and a great photo.
I assume he found lunch somewhere else. This is a great portrait.
Awesome shot of the Merlin! One of my favorite falcons! I have never seen one with light eyes like that. I wonder if it's a juvenile?
For a Predator, he is rather cute. I like the old barn with natural air conditioning. Peace
Looks like he is saying "Got my eye on you."
A very beautiful but dangerous bird. And a great photo! Look at its talons! Whee!
So they'll settle with bird seed huh?
What a beauty. I almost wish he'd found lunch.
Impressive bird.
This is a very excellent photograph. I really like the way the bird's head is positioned and his eye is so ... focused.
You can really see the details of his claws and feathers. I'm impressed! Like the little splash of yellow in the background.
Pure heaven! Looks like somebody else has been pruning fruit trees besides me!
I've never seen a falcon like this one. How handsome.
