Tulip Friday----Flowers for Leontien

The rain let up and some sun shone between clouds.  We zipped off to see more tulips (they finally are open all the way).  As you can see there is still a trace of snow in the foothills.  There were lots of purple, yellow and orange tulips but I seemed to have focused on the red and pink ones.

Batter up!

Bob's grand daughter plays Varsity for her high school.  She batted in the winning run with her unorthodox double.  The pitch hit the dirt (as you can see in the pic)  before reaching home plate.  It bounced, she swung and put the ball in right field.
They won the game 3-2.  YAY!!

Well we had 3 beautiful warm sunny days now to be followed by a week of rain-----but still , by our standards, warm.  Low sixtys.

Skagit Valley Tulips on a dark and windy day.

 It finally stopped raining so we decided to take in the Tulip fields in the Valley..  We visited the display gardens at Roozengaarde.  It is a 3 1/2 acre beautiful garden with an authentic Dutch Windmill (to be shown later). 
We did visit the fields but the Tulips are just starting to open up and no sun doesn't help at all.  The Tulip Festival started on April 1st and the Tulips are just now deciding to show up.  As you can see there is still some snow on the adjoining hills.

 Founded in the 1950's by Dutch emigrants William and Helen Roozen, Washington Bulb Company began as a 5 acre bulb field.  It has grown to over  1000 acres of Daffodil, Tulip and Iris bulbs with  16 acres of greenhouses.  They have become the largest flower bulb grower in the U.S.
