In the old Corn Field

The Trumpeter Swan winters in our Valleys--both Skagit and the Stillaguamish (Stilly) Valleys from their nesting grounds in Alaska.  They love to take over the the harvested corn fields.  These Swan one does not see regaling coasting along on water but greedily eating their weight in golden corn.

I can just imagine the noise so many of them make.

The size of those fields is amazing to me. Looks like they go on for miles. It also looks some some of those Trumpeters have been rolling around in the mud! Or, do some of them have darker feathers?

What a surprising sight! I never imagined so many trumpeter swans puddling about in a muddy cornfield! Great shots!

They are probably hungry after their long flight south and the corn is good fuel for them. Corn pickers do not get all the grain from the fields.

I wish I was there till I could see them...we have a few of some sort over in Illinois but they are out in the farm fields. Not very many either.

We only see them (mostly Tundra Swans) in early spring when they pass through on their way north.

Hello, I would love to see a flock of the Trumpeter Swans. They are beautiful.
I am sure they are hungry after their flight. Thank you so much for linking up your post. I appreciate your comment and visit too. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day!

Our weather is almost the same as yours, but we don't get the swans except for a brief visit during their flyby. Must be the empty fields with leftover food that attracts them farther south. - Margy
