Treasures inside the barn

Some of the treasures of long ago inside the barn at the Hovander Heritage Farm.  To read more about the farm click FARM
 Tractor
 Horse drawn plow
 Wonderful walls and hay tongs
:ook at the great floor and wagon wheels
The sign on this cart reads "Stud Cart.  Studs were transported to other farms with this cart.'
Yokes and whipple trees-------a song that was sung back then was "the old gray mare she p**ped on the Whipple tree.......so now you know where the tree is hitched.
 Nice wagon
And my favorite the forge with a giant bellows.  I wonder what all was made there.  I can see the red hot metal and hear the hammering
The back of the barn with a storage shed.

It's great that Heritage Farms are around to show the history of farming. Hovander has quite the collection of treasures. Thanks Mary Beth for sharing and I hope to see you soon.

I had to go read all about the farm from your previous post. The barn and equipment look amazing. I would have loved to "time travel" back to the hay day of the barn and watch all the activity. I am sorry my mind did not follow the proper channel as all I could envision was a studly man driving the stud cart. Not to old to appreciate looking at such a vision but alas you meant studs for building. Peace

This is truly a delightful place and it is wonderful that so many "treasures" of the past have been kept in good condition or renovated. The barn must have cost a bundle back in its day! All of this reminds me as to how farming is really hard work - 24/7 for 365 days a year.

What a neat place.... SO many memories in that old barn... Reminded me of a time we visited the old barn at Biltmore in Asheville, NC... There are many of the same things there.....Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

Great photos inside the barn at the Heritage Farm. Seems to cover a wide range of farm technology from using oxen up to the use of that early 1950s Case SC tractor. It looks to be in great shape. Bet they use it to move equipment from place to place. Always enjoy seeing old ag equipment.
