They don't make them like that anymore!
The IH A tractors were built from 1939 to 1947 and had 16 drawbar horsepower and 18 belt horsepower from its four cylinder gas motor. The one in your photo is likely from the post WW II years. The other tractor is a John Deere A. The steel wheels indicate it is like from the war years in which rubber was scarce. The John Deere A produced 18 drawbar HP and 24 belt HP. The steel wheels make the John Deere look much older, but it is only about four or five years older than the IH A. Interesting photos. Someone still loves and uses the IH A, but the JD A is now a piece of garden sculpture.
In this area that steel wheel tractor if it were in nice shape would look right at home on an Old Mennonite farm. I see them all the time. For many, tractors are indeed treasured. Thanks Mary Beth for stopping by and I hope to see more of your treasure again.
Farmall has been around a long time. I remember them from my childhood. That means they are at least as old as I am and let me tell you that's really old!
What a joy to see. Thank you!
I could use the one with steel wheels to upgrade my yard art. Peace
love the first one - reminds me of one my dad had.
Great looking tractor. I also enjoyed your other photos.
