Flutterbye

I captured this pretty guy yesterday. I believe it is a Milbert's Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis (Aglais) milberti).

I've never seen one of those before. Looks like the face of a cat or an owl, with those "eyes". Very nice.

I have a big jar and some ether. LOL
Just kidding, I would never do that.

Pretty butterfly. I saw my first two for this year in the forest yesterday, a mourning cloak and a pure white one. It hasn't been warm enough here for eggs to hatch, turn into caterpillars and then into butterflies yet.

I've never heard of Milbert's Tortoiseshells. Hmmm.

I never get one that good, they always want to fly around. Nice picture.

How did you get it to hold still? I seem to startle my subjects, and they flutter off. This is a beautiful shot; I have never seen this kind of butterfly.

Kinda chilly for these insects I'd think. Lovely capture with great color in those spread wings.

This is a lovely photo...I am amazed it didn't fly away. They never seem to sit still!

Wow, you have butterflies already. All we have are little moths, as of yet.
