Early Evening

I took this yesterday in the Valley looking west.  The Olympic mountain range is  remote and one doesn't see it very often.  Yesterday in the early evening just before dusk there was a lightish glow in the west and the mountains were OUT!

Spring

Spring will be here in 14 days so we retired the 30 yr old relic of a lawnmower and got another

Historic Barn

This is the Otto Larsen Barn on Skagit City Rd. right out of Conway not far from our home.  The barn was built in 1910 in the Salt Box style.

Swedish Immigrants Tillie and Otto Larson built their farm on Fir Island in 1910. Tillie was the farmer and a midwife. Otto ran the ferry across the Skagit River and made hand turned small tables while he waited for customers. They had a dairy and raised chickens and sold eggs. The Larsons planted an orchard and two of the original apple trees are still on the property, as well as remnants of Tillie’s asparagus patch. It is still producing after 100 years! This barn was the recipient of a Heritage Barn matching grant and the funds have been used to re-roof the barn, repair the south end and remove areas of dry rot on the west side’s board and batting.

We took these pictures last week when it was dry but a bit foggy

This barn was hidden away from everything so I had to take several long distance shots

Had to go into the driveway to capture this
The current owners use the barn as an art studio

March 1st~~CDP Theme~~~PLAY

Bob had a wonderful Chocolate Lab named Bucky.  I loved to play with that dog.  He never wanted to stop.  Tennis balls and Frisbee were his game.

A white Frisbee in the snow---Bucky said "I can do it"

Sitting by the back door with a tennis ball in mouth waiting---he is even looking outside---hint hint
