The short life of Fly amanita

Isn't this a pretty Mushroom.  It is called Fly Amanita (Amanita muscaria) and is poisonous.  It is quite large, maybe 8 inches tall and 6-8 inches across.

 It started out as a fat reddish globe

 Then it got taller

 and started to open up

 and the edges started to crack open

 and it split more and faded fast

There was a family of 4 or 5 of various sizes.  They lasted maybe a week or so.

Hidden Barn

I found a round barn but this is as close as I could get.  It is not a old timer but has been there for awhile.

Snow Geese and Fir/Conway Church

The Snow Geese are back to winter in the Skagit and Stillaguamish Valleys.

The Fir/Conway Lutheran Church dates back to 1886 and this church building was built in 1916.  It is one of the most beautiful and also one of the most photographed Churches in the PNW
