Toppenish Murals

The Toppenish Murals began in 1989 with the inaugural mural titled “Clearing the Land”. The idea was formed when state seed money was distributed to small communities in correspondence with the State of Washington’s centennial celebration

These murals are mostly on sides of buildings but some cover windows---Lots of fun to find

Sky

On the way home from my daughters place I watched the sun going down but couldn't stick around to see the actual setting.
Funny thing another daughter stopped at my house to show me the pictures she took of the sunset.  So I did get to see it after all

My shot
I wish I could show you her sunset

Sign of our Times

The Skagit Valley is mostly farmland and of course we would like it to stay that way..  It is sad to see the Dairy farms leave the Valley or become smaller but there is mostly crop farming now.Washington had 3000 dairies operating in 1993 and down to 792 by 2003.  Skagit had 52 in 2003 and by 2013 down to 29. Some crops like Peas and Cucumbers are gone because the processing plants have moved on also.
Potatoes are a huge crop in the Valley
