While hiking along the waters at the Skagit Wildlife Area I spotted an Eagle nest with I thought an Eagle below. So we just had to go and see. Not only was there a young (juvenile) Eagle there but close by an older Bald Eagle. See the Eagle below the nest.
We do have resident Eagles and these are probably a pair but this area is where Eagles come down from the far north and winter over. Arriving soon and leaving in February to March. Very exciting to see many Eagles, other Raptors and also the Snow Geese and Trumpeter Swan that over winter here .
This is a wetland area. Full of all kinds of birds and alive and dead vegetation.

I always find it amazing that people don't appreciate the dead vegetation for what it is - a FAAAABULOUS bird habitat!!
Great shots!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
