Yesterday, Monday, my friend and I went in Search of Mt. Baker. Well, here is his Jeep and here is how deep the snow is.
And here is where we could go no further----the snow covered the road seemingly forever. See the stop sign amd the mound of snow? The road may be opened in July.
Remember when I posted a picture of Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake? Well here is the mountain but the lake is under 20 feet of snow.

Omigod! That's quite incredible! Now I know why you've been less visible of late. On the road again! :-)
Nice shots and I'm glad that you're having fun!
That's quite a snow pack! I guess we won't have a water shortage this year.
Hmmm, and I thought the snow in Vermont lasted exceedingly long this year.
Is this a good thing? Just think of the runoff.
Even though I've seen this much snow before, it always blows me away. Love to look at the layers of snow fall. Maybe next month you can find Baker.
Amazing! We started to take the motorcycle to Mt Baker yesterday, but got distracted when friends called and we went to Vashon Island instead. Glad we didn't attempt Mt Baker on the bike.
It's hard for me to imagine that there's still so much snow!!
Forgot to say that I'm glad Blogger is letting you post again! :))
WOW, we are headed to SD in September, hope the snow there is gone and none coming back too soon.
Thanks for the beautiful "cooling photos" as we are very HOT here in TN. Hard to imagine 20 ft of snow. Thanks for sharing. Peace
This is a very interesting series. It's good to be reminded of what "real snow" looks like when it's measured in feet instead of inches! :-) I'm glad you pointed out that the lake is covered with so much snow. Nice post.
20 feet of snow? I could really use some here!
Wow! That is a lot of snow.
Crikey! When I first saw this I thought there was no way this could be a recent picture. Is it unusual to have this much snow so late in the year?
It floors me as to how much snow ya'll get out there! YiKeS! =)
Sure makes for some beautiful scenes, tho! =)
What a fun trip that looks like. The snow looks so refreshing.
Down here in town we had so little snow that you forget what happens up high. At least water for this summer should be fine. Wonder what the Skagit will be like in August for our paddle trip. - Margy
