Every year as long as I can remember----hmmm where are we----Red-wing Blackbirds have nested by the pond. I have been hearing them but couldn't really see them until today. They nest in the reeds around the pond. Usually I male and 2 nests. The male owns the area and intruder beware, he guards his territory with determination.

Your blackbirds have red in them! Wow!
Beautiful images, but the first one is spectacular.
The first time I saw a red-wing blackbird I stood in awe. I still find them to be beautiful birds. Glad you do too.
I think it's really rare species
of bird.
I have never seen the bird in Japan.
It's easy to imagine your excitement.
O - ka - reee!
It's a beautiful bird and a good sign too!
We've been hearing the redwinged Blackbirds for a couple months now - those males come back so early to stake out their territory - it is great to see photos of them. Ours are all down in a swampy area that is protected from view by vegetation.
Don't you love their song? They're thick here in the summer time in the fields of maize. They're strickingly beautiful.
Good for you! I saw one of these the other day but couldn't get close enough to shoot it (with my camera!)...very nicely done.
Those birds are beautiful I have never seen them before.

Red wing black birds are not common in middle TN but I have seen them in the fields of West TN. peace
Both «Louis» et Mme la Vache really enjoy the images of birds you post, MB!
Your first photo of the Red-winged Blackbird is gorgeous. I'm glad you spotted him.
They are beautiful aren't they? I've seen few of them around here too.
Standing guard! Keep up the good work, Mr Redwing!
Great catch, MB. I have seen and HEARD them but have not captured them with my camera!
It must be spring in the NW. Love those colorful epulets.
Oh how neat, Mary Beth.... I have only seen one Red-winged Blackbird (on our golf course--at a distance)--and would love to see more of them....
You captured some good pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy
