I didn't go to Mount Baker

Where's the mountains?
Avalanche was here
Part of one of many waterfalls
Baker Lake

My friend and I started out to go to Mt. baker but it was so cloudy, overcast and a bit drizzely so we decided to go to Baker Lake instead. We went to the Lake and then on up to the North

Cascades Highway also know as the home of the American Alps. Of course it was cloudy there so no mountains were showing but there were many waterfall, rivers and creeks. the North Cascades Highway is closed in the winter, usually from November to April. It opened late this year and then closed again because of avalanches and just reopened last week.
I have about a zillion pics I took

We went from west to east, this is the opposite. Approaching the Cascade Mountains via the Methow Valley, you will cross up and over the scenic Washington Pass and Rainy Pass. To the north and south are the two sections of North Cascades National Park. The road drops down into the thick woods of the Skagit Valley and comes out onto the coastal flats in Burlington. If you travel the byway in the fall you will see the roadside trees come alive with beautiful combination of reds, oranges, and vibrant golds.

The North Cascades Scenic Highway will take you through a rich diversity of broad valleys and towering forests and through a narrow river gorge with the nickname, "America's Alps." Along the way, native cultures, fisheries, and trade routes over the mountains showcase a piece of North Cascades history.

Traveling up to the Washington Pass, take the chance to see magnificent mountain views of Liberty Bell and Early Winters Spires. For areas to rest and enjoy the scenery, try Colonial Creek Campground on Diablo Lake and Lone Fir Campground which rests amid old-growth western hemlocks and silver firs.

Gorgeous shots, MB!! Looks like you took in a lot in one day!

(I discovered Picasa Web Albums after Janice gave me a tip about Picasa. It's a great way to organize your photos into one presentation - up to 500 photos in one album! Maybe you know about it already; if not, check it out!)

Wonderful photos - I especially like the waterfall.

So you'll be sure to see it I'll comment here about your previous post - I love old buildings and old parts of towns that have been left as is - great photos!

Waterfalls!! I LOVE them but we haven't any like yours here where it's relatively flat. Sure, we have Niagara Falls two hours southwst of here, but I prefer the one in your photo. ;-)

Any snow on the road at this point? Is there still high avalanche danger? Might be up for a weekend ride to Winthrop soon ...
