Rainy Weather in the Valley

We have been having nothing but rain, rain, rain and then again more RAIN.   Took a short ride to the Valley today.  It was lightly raining but looking at the sky one could tell it was foing to RAIN.  It's fun to drive around here in this weather.  the Eagles love to soar around in wet weather and the Snow Geese are in the fields gobbling away.  And there are plenty of Heron's stalking about.  but the sky is the thing.

A Pair of Eagles

We Saw this same pair of Eagles last year---same time same place different year---this sighting is on 3 days in a row just a few days ago.  There is a nest close by.

 Day one: Hunkered down on a gray and drizzley day

 Day two:  Enjoying the wind ruffling their feathers

 Day three:  A pleasant day in the trees 

 Look this way

 And that way__the other Eagle was a branch away but obscured by more branches so no good image

Fence Collage for Good Fences

When we went to find any Snow Geese in the Valley----which is Fir Island also---anyway I wanted to find some fences too.  Seens llike all fencing looks much the same here.  Nice wood fence.

They're Back

We always know  the season has shifted irrevocably when the snow geese return to the Skagit Valley and gather on their wintering grounds. More than 80,000 snow geese arrive to the Northwest from Wrangell Island in Russia after flying more than 3,000 miles. Many of them are here now, concentrated on Fir Island, and can be seen flying in high Vs as they move about the lower Skagit Valley.

 Noisy  squawking birds but so much fun to watch and photograph and no Lowell they don't do what you want to say they do----overhead that is.

My eldest Grandson

My Grandson Michael at his graduation from Eastern Washington University.  He graduated with honors in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology moved to Eugene Oregon, found work at a institution working with children and now mentors a young Autistic child.

A Day in the Country

A small quilt barn and a nice country home.  October is potato digging tim.  I like to watch.  Skagit Valley is the leading potato grower (red I think) in the state.  The Eagles were out on this windy windy day.  Tis Eagle looks like here dress got blown up by the wind and her petticoat is showing.  Apples on our trees--we have picked them all now--apple turnover in the kitchen---and more wind blown Eagles
