Spring waterfall

Took a little road trip with a friend today. Went through the

Skagit Valley looking for Tulips. They aren't in bloom yet--too cold, even though the Tulip Festival started April first. Went up Chuckanut Drive which is hiway 11. At one time it was the only route to reach the town of Bellingham. It is a windy scenic route all along the water. very pretty. The drive is a narrow 2 lane road with a cliff on one side and high trees and rocks on the other. Larrabe State Park covers a lot of the area--both waterfront and the woods full of many hiking trails. Here is a waterfall found on the hill side of the road.

Nice Dolly

Two dollies--the one on the right my mother made for my older sister probably 60+ years ago and the Raggety Ann I received recently from a friend in Tennessee(handmade). They look so sweet together.

Visiting

I went to Whidbey Island to visit my Mother and wish her Happy Birthday. She is 92. Just a remarkable woman. She paints, makes quilts, knits, is a wonderful cook and has a zest for life. Maybe when I grow up I will be like her. Last week when I went to visit her I took her to get her drivers license renewed. She asked the attendant if she would take 10 years off her age for the license photo. She spent most of her life in Seattle and has lived on Langley for 3 yrs but has always loved the Island.

This is a photo I took from the ferryboat of the Port of Everett, Wa.

Is the tide out?

Everyone came up to my place yesterday to play in the snow. Sledding, snowballs and snowmen and forts was the theme of the day. Woke up this morning to more snow. I figured I would get out somehow today when a friend called and said they were down the road--let's do something.
Hoy Cripes I heard over the phone---where did all this snow come from!!! It is hard to believe that everywhere else the sun was shining. In fact 2 miles away there was NO snow. So I've said enough on that subject---well maybe. Did a little road trip, found this sailboat waiting for the tide to come in at Port Susan Bay. MB
