MY OTHER BLOG--TAKE A CHANCE
Kylee my grand-daughter has ZEST (gusto, relish, zestfulness, appetite, eagerness, keenness, avidity,
zeal, fervour, ardour, passion, love, enjoyment, joy, delight and
excitement ) for riding. Here she is at a race event on my horse Ambush. A photo from the archives although she still has a ZEST for riding and racing.
Kylee still races and has two horses she uses. Macaronie (which has been shown here before) and Dally. Dally is a younger horse she has trained herself.
The CDP theme for June 1st is ZEST.

This is a female Hairy Woodpecker. The Hairy and the Downey Woodpecker are almost identical except in size. The Hairy being larger.
Another difference is that the beak is longer in the Hairy.
She is trying her very best to get the last of the suet out of this feeder.
Trying all kinds of positions
See how big she is compared to the Downey below. The male has a red stripe on top of the head--the female does not.
This is a male Downey. Much smaller.
Waft on over to Stewarts HERE to enjoy an amazing number of birds from all over the world
These guys love the feeder.
Is it a Purple Finch or a House Finch?

Lest we Forget--Remember those who gave their all.
Have a SAFE weekend.
Driving down the road today i saw this neat fence with the trees acting as a fence too I thought "PERFECT" for Good Fences. A little dim out my dirty windshield.
So I stopped and rolled down the side window and took a shot of the freshly planted field and fence too.

More scenes from the draft Horses.
See how the plow cuts the sod and rolls it over
Ruby red in the harness
From horses I’ve learned about people,
For we are but beasts, don’t you see?
They’ve helped me learn my own species,
And best, to understand me.

Yesterday (May 17th) We drove up north to the small town of Lynden. It is about 9 miles south of the Canadian border.
Not too far from us. We went to see the Draft Horse Plowing contest. It was fun to watch. Each contestant gets a patch of ground to plow and they are judged on straightness, firmness and packing of the soil. and of course general appearance.
Here is a collage of one of the contestants, Sara Van Dyke, dressed as the farmers wife of years ago.
Handsome horses and hard workers
Several at once
There were two riding plows and this fellow had Mules
Here is the other riding plow. If you notice with the riding plows the farmers actually handle the reins while the ones with the walking plows have the reins wrapped around their waist because they have to guide the plow.
I, of course have to get right in there with the horses.
This contest has been going on since 1942 and one policy they set at that time was first of all no admission and that the the people attending could walk among the contestants and the horses and visit with a plow person if they so desired.
Beautiful
Naturally we took about a zillion pictures so I will be showing more--sometime.

Every year a pair of Canada Geese come to our pond and set up housekeeping.
Are we in Monet's garden?
This year 7 babies showed up but 5 have survived
Mama and Papa seem very proud of their brood
Look at the little one trying to stretch his little nubby wings.

Harry etc was a movie made in the late 1980's. I didn't ever see it even though it has been on TV. It was kind of an off the wall funky type show with well known actors. It was filmed in and around Seattle, Wa. the wild life scenes were filmed alone I-90 and highway 2. We traveled highway 2 last week when we went to Eastern Washington. We decided to go that way instead of I-90 and over Snoqualmie Pass. Stevens Pass on hwy 2 is about 1000 feet higher and way more picturesque. And it is only a 2 lane undivided roadway whereas is a 3-4 lane divided highway.
The "Bigfoot Museum" where Don Ameche works in the film was built on the side of Highway 2 under the shadow of Mt. Index. In the years since filming, Espresso Chalet has taken over the spot and still houses one of the Harry costumes from the film.
We saw no one and nuthin'
Harry himself
I am not Bigfoot
